REAL FALL-LIKE WEATHER THIS WEEKEND WILL BE FOLLOWED BY WARMER TEMPERATURES AS WE START THE WORK WEEK… DRY WEATHER SHOULD PERSIST UNTIL WE GET TO NEXT WEEKEND

A cool air mass moved into the Mid-Atlantic States on Saturday. I was up in Charlottesville, VA and it was an absolutely beautiful day. It was what I call “football weather”. The cold front did not produce much rainfall in my neighborhood.  I only picked up a trace of rain early Saturday morning. Temperatures this morning (Sunday) were very chilly. It was in the upper forties in Virginia Beach. Temperatures should peak out in the mid-sixties this afternoon with plenty of sunshine. The high pressure area responsible for the fall like weather will move off the east coast on Monday. This will turn our wind direction to the southwest, which will bring in warmer temperatures. Temperatures should remain seasonal this week or slightly above seasonal levels. No significant precipitation is expected through Thursday. A frontal system may bring a chance of showers/rain next weekend… The tropical Atlantic is quiet today. Aside from the storm that hit on July 4th weekend (Arthur), we did not see any other threats from the tropics. As the Atlantic hurricane season slowly winds down, let’s hope that we see no surprises. However, keep in mind that hurricane season officially ends on November 30th.  That’s it for now. Thanks for reading.
