TEMPERATURES THIS WEEKEND WILL BE MUCH ABOVE NORMAL… RAIN CHANCES INCREASE MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY AS A FRONTAL SYSTEM APPROACHES… MUCH COOLER WEATHER FOLLOWS THAT SYSTEM BRINGING US BACK TO NEAR NORMAL TEMPERATURES

There are some areas of fog and drizzle here in Hampton Roads this morning, but overall, today will not be a bad day for this time of year. Clouds will dominate the skies but temperatures will be way above normal. Sunday will be another mild day and it could start out foggy in some spots. It will probably be a warmer day with temperatures breaking the 70 degree mark in many areas. A frontal system should bring some wet weather by late Monday and it is expected that the front will stall nearby keeping the wet weather around through Tuesday. Much cooler weather will follow the front so temperatures will be much closer to normal. Right now, it looks like we should dry out by Thursday.

WARMER WEATHER IS ON THE WAY… UNSETTLED WEATHER IS LIKELY BY MID-WEEK… WILL THE FRIGID AIR CURRENTLY IN CENTRAL AND EASTERN CANADA MOVE SOUTH INTO THE MID-ATLANTIC STATES?

As predicted, a weak system caused a little light rain early Sunday morning. Conditions should slowly improve as the system moves away. Monday should be a chilly but sunny day with a breeze out of the north. Despite a large frigid Arctic air mass over Central and Eastern Canada, our weather is going to become milder as we go through next week. The upper-level pattern is not allowing this air to move southward for now. How long will that be the case is the pressing question on meteorologist’s minds right now. An unsettled weather pattern is likely to develop later in the week but temperatures should be warm enough so any precipitation that falls later in the week should all be in the liquid form.

SATURDAY WILL BE DRY WITH SEASONAL TEMPERATURES… A WEAK SYSTEM MAY BRING A LITTLE WET WEATHER EARLY ON SUNDAY… A WARM UP IS EXPECTED BY THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK

The overall weather pattern across the Eastern half of the nation is less active than it was a week ago with much weaker weather systems. High pressure will keep us dry with seasonable temperatures here in Hampton Roads on Saturday. There will be plenty of sunshine and the winds should be light. A weak weather system will bring increasing cloudiness Saturday night and a period of light rain is possible in some areas Sunday morning. Amounts should be on the light side. By the middle of next week, temperatures should be above seasonal norms but precipitation chances are expected to increase somewhat. Right now, there is a lot of uncertainty in the extended forecast.
