FOR THE SECOND FRIDAY IN A ROW, THUNDERSTORMS BLAST THROUGH PARTS OF HAMPTON ROADS… THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS WILL BE TYPICAL MID-SUMMER DAYS… WARM, HUMID, AND A CHANCE OF SHOWERS/THUNDERSTORMS EACH DAY

A weak frontal boundary caused showers and thunderstorms to erupt on Friday after a very hot day here in Hampton Roads. I picked up about 1.25 inches of rainfall in my backyard. Lightning caused a structure fire in Virginia Beach Friday evening. There will be a chance of storms today but weather forecasters are saying that most of the more intense activity will be to our north. We could still see a strong thunderstorm as humidity levels will be high and temperatures should peak out in the lower 90’s. Sunday should be just a little cooler with still a slight chance of a thunderstorm. For next week, it looks like we will see typical summer-like weather with temperatures around normal and a chance of a thunderstorm each day. A frontal boundary is expected to stall out nearby maintaining that chance of a storm. That’s it for now. I will have an update Sunday morning.
