A STALLED FRONTAL BOUNDARY BRINGS HEAVY RAINFALL… WARMER TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED THIS WEEKEND

I was away visiting family up north and when I got home yesterday (Tuesday, July 10th), my rain gauge had almost 4 inches of rain in it. Then, early this morning, another 4 inches of rain fell in my Virginia Beach neighborhood! That’s 8 inches of rain in two days. A frontal boundary that is basically stalled just to our south is responsible for the heavy rain. Forecasters believe that rain chances will lessen and we should only see isolated to scattered rainfall today. An onshore flow combined with the cloudiness will keep temperatures cooler. As high pressure builds in this weekend, temperatures should return to warmer levels. I’ll have an update on Thursday.
