ANOTHER STORMY NIGHT FOR SOME IN SOUTHEAST VIRGINIA… THE HEAT CONTINUES AND WE MAY HAVE MORE STORMS LATER TODAY (SUNDAY)

Last night, I heard thunder from about 11:00 PM to 2:00 AM yet no appreciable rain fell in my neighborhood. That’s the second night in a row that my area got missed. Severe storms hit some portions of Southeast Virginia knocking out power once again. It was nothing like Friday night when two million folks lost power across the Mid-Atlantic states. However, for those that were affected, it was not a good night as no power means no air conditioning. What’s unsettling is that we may see a repeat tonight, although in these types of patterns, it is very hard to predict who will get hit by the storms that do develop and how intense the storms will become. Hail and damaging winds are the primary threats. The heat continues Sunday with high temperatures expected to be well up in the 90’s. The pattern this upcoming week will feature similar conditions but the high pressure ridge is expected to slowly break down. That will hopefully mean an end to the intense heat. There will however be a chance of a thunderstorm at any time the next few days.
