THE LABOR DAY WEEKEND WEATHER WILL BE NICE FOR THE MOST PART… HOWEVER, RAIN CHANCES BEGIN TO INCREASE ON MONDAY AND MAY CONTINUE TO INCREASE THROUGH MID-WEEK AND BEYOND… THE TROPICS REMAIN QUITE ACTIVE

As the headline states, a nice weekend lies ahead for vacationers here in Hampton Roads. This is great news for the tourist related businesses that lost money last weekend due to Irene. Temperatures will trend upwards along with humidity levels. The combination of a cold front approaching from the west and the moisture associated with Tropical Storm Lee (now approaching the Gulf Coast) will increase our rain chances as we head into next week. How much rain we get next week will depend on the exact track of the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee and the positioning of the front which is expected to stall somewhere near the east coast. Heavy rain is the last thing that some folks want to hear who have been dealing with inland flooding caused by Irene. Up north, the situation may be more dire as the remants will most likely end up in New England. I really feel bad for the folks in parched Texas as Lee would have been an ideal situation if it was heading west instead of north. Hurricane Katia is struggling with shear and dry air but it is expected to overcome these obstacles as time goes on possibly becoming a major hurricane. The track should take the storm somewhere between the east coast and Bermuda, but it is too early to rule out a possible landfall along the east coast. Thanks for reading and have a great day.
