RAIN SEEMS LIKELY ON THURSDAY, POSSIBLY A SOAKER… WE COOL DOWN OVER THE WEEKEND… MILD TEMPERATURES RETURN NEXT WEEK

A very slow moving frontal system is likely to bring the Mid-Atlantic States a soaking rain event on Thursday and Thursday night. What does that mean for Hampton Roads? While balmy air has moved into our region on Wednesday, the cold air is slowly advancing eastward. A low pressure system is developing to our southwest along the frontal boundary. This low will enhance the rainfall rates as the frontal system moves through our region. The heaviest rain is likely to be just to our west. Flash Flood Watches have been posted to our west. As the front slowly sags southeastward, we’ll see our temperatures drop. Frozen precipitation should not be an issue for us but up in the northeastern states, it may be a different story. We should dry out on Friday and we’ll have a cool sunny weekend. Milder air may move back into the region next week as the roller coaster ride continues.
