A CHILLY WEEKEND GIVES WAY TO A PERIOD OF WET WEATHER DURING THE WORK WEEK… TEMPERATURES WILL COME UP A BIT AS THE WET WEATHER MOVES IN

After a chilly weekend, an unsettled week seems likely for Hampton Roads along with milder temperatures.  A frontal system will move into the region on Tuesday which will introduce the chance of precipitation late in the day and this may last through Thursday. Temperatures will most likely warm up somewhat lessening the chance of any frozen precipitation. Wednesday and Thursday could turn out to be quite wet, but the timing and the amount of the rainfall is a bit uncertain. I was looking at the temperature map of North America and it is extremely cold in Central and Northern Canada. While this very cold air has been invading parts of the mid-section of the U.S and the Northeast., it is still not known how much of it will move southeast into our neck of the woods. We may see some of this very cold air late in the week or on the weekend.

As promised, here are the precipitation totals in my VA Beach backyard since the beginning of the year:

Jan: 1.55 Feb: 6.10 Mar: 2.75 Apr: 7.50 May: 3.40 Jun: 1.70 Jul: 11.80 Aug: 1.30 Sep: 11.20 Oct: 1.95 Nov: 7.90 – The total for this year so far is 57.15 inches which is significantly more than the total at ORF.
